Monument in Darvel Old Cemetery (Darvel, Ayrshire, Scotland) honors the memory of Alexander Gemmell, wife Elizabeth (McCartney) Gemmell, daughters Margaret Gemmell and Elizabeth Wallace Gemmell, wife's parents' David McCartney and Margaret Alison, and wife's brothers Robert McCartney and James McCartney. The stone was clearly placed some time after Alexander Gemmell died since his death date on the stone is incorrect:
