DANIEL WINDLE HEMRICH was born 02 January 1884 in Jasper County, Illinois, USA, the son of of John W. Hemrich and Josephine Negley.  He grew up in Pixley Township, Clay County, Illinois, USA, appearing there on the 1900 and 1910 censuses.  Dan worked as a farmer, and then later on as a garage mechanic.  In 1905, in Clay County, Illinois, he married Miss Pearl E. Hastler.  It is likely that Pearl died young, since Dan married again just four years later.
