Mary (Eaton) Menz Halter was born 09 Jan 1863 in Missouri, the daughter of John Eaton. About 1881, she married her first husband, Joseph Menz, son of Martin Menz and Maria Anna Wegele. There were at least three living sons from this marriage: Martin Menz (b. Dec 1882), Antony "Tony" Menz (b. Oct 1885), and John Menz (b. June 1891).

Mary married her second husband, Edward Halter, in 1895 in Oran, Missouri at Guardian Angel Catholic Church (Rev. Koob officiated). It was her second marriage, and his third. Edward was a plumber.

Mary and Edward continued to live in Oran, until Mary died on 25 March 1932 of chronic myocarditis. She was buried in the Catholic Cemetery (Old Guardian Angel Cemetery) on 27 March 1932. Edward died a year later, and is also buried in Old Guardian Angel Cemetery.
