VIOLA C. SCHMITZ NOBLE BERGHOFF, 92, died March 23, 2004. Born May 26, 1911, in Ft. Jennings, Ohio, she was the daughter of Frank and Victorina Schmitz. She was raised in Decatur, graduated in 1933 from St. Vincent School of Nursing, Indianapolis, with an RN degree. She married Dr. Thomas Noble in 1937; he preceded her in death in 1959. She married Norbert G. Berghoff in 1964, he preceded her in death in 1989. She was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Catholic Charities, The Marians, Fort Wayne Country Club and the Gala Dance Club. Surviving are stepdaughters, Patricia Noble of Indianapolis and Ronnie Evans of Durango, Colo.; a stepson, ----- Berghoff of Fort Wayne; five step-grandsons, ----- (-----) of Fort Wayne, ----- (-----) of Baghdad, ----- of Fort Wayne, ----- (-----) of Fredericksburg, Va. and ----- of Los Angeles, Calif.; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Beames of Phoenix, Ariz. and Sally Fisher of Huntington; and one brother, Paul Schmitz of Honolulu, Hawaii; and numerous nieces and nephew, and loving caregivers, Kaye Martensen and Juan Berghoff Stanford and Kathy Wilkinson. Stepdaughter, June Berghoff Miller, preceded her in death in 2002. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Friday, with calling one hour prior, at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1100 S. Calhoun St. Calling is also from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, with Vigil Service at 4:30 p.m., at Mungovan & Sons Memorial Chapel, 2114 S. Calhoun St. Burial in Catholic Cemetery. Memorials to Southern Care Hospice and Masses.
